In 2001, states spent $552 million.
In five years time, if the Common Core "assessments" (i.e., standardized tests) go into place as expected, and students from K-12 take tests in every subject in every grade all the year through in order to evaluate their teachers and schools by those test scores, what will the price tag be?
And more importantly, what will the price be on children?
